We hope you all had a blessed holiday, now on to the next!  I’ve already started listening to Christmas music and I can’t wait to get my tree up and decorated. Can you tell what color mood we are in?  Oxblood!  Really?  Who’s the Queen Bee that has the privilege of naming colors?  I want that job!  What happened to Burgundy and Maroon? …or even Merlot?  Well despite the name we are in the mood for all things Oxblood.  Maybe not all at once, but there are some pretty amazing Oxblood pieces out there right now.  It’s Cyber Monday, so we’re off to start our Christmas shopping.  What better way to kick-start our favorite time of year!

We are always for all black.  There are so many ways to spin this look, and it’s always easy and classic.  I’m swooning over the black Chado Ralph Rucci dress with the sneak peek of hot pink!  Amazing!!  How can you not love anything that’s sexy and mysterious on the outside but yet soft and feminine on the inside?  Surprise details are always a must!  …And the Dior ballet heels on Mila…I have not words other than, PERFECTION!!  We hope you are all having a fabulous October!!

I recently purchased the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar because the lovely Kate Hudson was gracing the cover!  The photos are just amazing and I wanted to share them in case you happened to miss them.  We have both been huge fans of Kate since she stole our hearts as Penny Lane in Almost Famous ten years ago.  What an example of style and grace.  She has a gypsy spirit and a radiant energy that definitely commands attention, and we have always admired her hippie style.  These images are so feminine with a little old school glamour.  We can’t seem to get enough, and the red Valentino gown…I mean, AMAZING!!!  Hope you enjoy!  You can read Kate’s interview at harpersbazaar.com

New York City Ballet & Valentino

We love it when dance and fashion meet and what could be more fabulous than Valentino and the New York City Ballet.  For one night only, Valentino came out of retirement to design costumes for New York City Ballet’s Fall Gala at the famous Lincoln Center.  This collaboration was influenced by board member Sarah Jessica Parker who is a long time friend of Valentino.  The evening was full of puffed tutus, bright red and pink pointe shoes and black and white dresses with surprise sneak peeks of red tulle when the dancers jumped and turned.

This is exactly why so many little girls grow up dreaming of becoming ballerinas; the fantasy of dancing on stage every night in beautiful tutus and tiaras.  I guess I never fully grew up, because I still get giddy when I put on a fabulous costume.  This is one of the many reasons I love performing.  When you’re on stage you lose yourself in the character and the story and for that moment you’re transcended.  Rapture, romance, whimsy, magic…if only life were more like the ballet!

What an honor it must have been to be a part of NYCB’s ode to fashion and dance in these amazing costumes.  Valentino was quoted as saying in the night’s program, “Ballet speaks to me because of the romance I see in it, I realize the dancers do so much to be perfect, and in high fashion I always wanted perfection.”  Amen Valentino, amen!

This past weekend it finally felt like September and that Autumn is on its way (despite the climbing heat temperatures here in southern Cali)!!  Football was on television, a spiced pumpkin latte was in my hand and there was an overall cozy feeling in the house that only comes with this time of year.  Yes, we are glad to see you September!! We are definitely excited and READY to start sporting our fall attire!!  Boots, boots and more boots!!  There are so many great pairs out this season and we can’t wait to get our hands on some.  Pairing them with an oversized sweater or a great jacket, sounds like a pretty stylish and comfy way to start out this fall season!  Here are some of our Eye Kandee inspirations to get you excited about this transition into harvest season!

Yesterday I was channeling my inner lioness at the old L.A. zoo, while my style seemed a little more a la Emanuelle Alt.  Labor Day is just around the corner, so if you’re a firm follower of fashion rules this is your last weekend to wear your white jeans.  Yikes!! Is Summer over already?  As for me, you may see me in white again….I’m a rebel like that!  It’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it.  I love how eye-catching black and white is together…it’s a classic combination that will never go out of style.  I don’t know about you, but I’m due for a much-needed long weekend.  I’m on my way home to visit my family this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited!

I finally got on board with Instagram.  I know, I know…It’s old news.  I hesitated for so long because it seems like just another thing that takes us away from living in the moment, but I have to say… I like it!!  You can keep up with my everyday adventures via Followgram.  Have a fun weekend!!

‘There is nothing more constant than change’, my mother always told me… and yet change has always been a challenge.  Whether making a deeply needed change but not quite knowing where to start, or simply accepting a change that you have been thrown into due to life’s unexpected turns.  Change is in the air; a change in season, a change in life, a change in attitude.  It’s exciting and scary all at the same time, but oh so needed!  We are also working on changes with Gypsy Luster, so please bear with us.  Thanks for reading and happy Monday!!
