     We think Red, White and Blue and Stars and Stripes are always in style for summer…don’t you agree?  These pictures have such a Bruce Springsteen rock and roll kinda vibe!!  We definitely think this is a great fashion statement for all the festive parties today!!  What’s your favorite way to rock your patriotism? As you probably know we are huge fans of MKA and the work they do, so we were excited when they won the 2012 CFDA award Womenswear Designers of the Year.  With their work on The Row, Elizabeth and James, Olsenboye they continue to conquer the fashion world.  Not to mention their effortless bohemian style…they will forever keep us wanting more.

This years CFDA award ceremony was a special one!!  It marked the Council of the Fashion Designers of America’s 50th anniversary.  This award ceremony has been called the “Oscars” of the fashion world, so you can imagine the guest list was nothing less than star-studded and fashion filled.  We wanted to share with you this years CFDA’s red carpet moments that we fell in love with….

The Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala is one of our favorite red carpet events to get our glam fashion fix, not only because it brings out the most eccentric styles but because it celebrates the arts and the fashion world.  This is where celebrities can take fashion risks and add a little more drama.  The event was not lacking in ‘Wow!!’ moments, good and bad.  These are our favorite looks of the night.  Overall we agree that Renee Zellweger in Pucci was our favorite.  Her classic black dress was flawless.  There was an abundance of metallic gowns, feathers accents, over-sized trains and vampy lips.  Wine colored lips are hard to pull off but we thought Kate Bosworth did it quite nicely in her ombre bordeaux and navy ostrich feather Prada gown.  Stunning!!!  She didn’t play it safe and that is why we love the Met Gala!!  Hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!  K&A

    Talk about bedazzle!!! This studded trend has been spotted on every wearable item imaginable.  Ok, we know it’s not new…the studded trend has been around for a while now.  We’re still loving it!!  Everyone else must be too because it’s definitely still hot!! It’s a cool way to dress up any pair of tennis shoes or add edge to a pair of jeans or a leather jacket.  The studded look definitely gives off a rocker chic vibe!  The jean shorts are a personal favorite especially the ones Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton are wearing at their 2010 Sass and Bide runway show in the first picture above.  The fun thing about this studded trend is it can be a DIY project.  We have been wanting to experiment with a pair of heels in our closet that need a little refreshing.  So keep posted for a DIY project!!   Happy Hump day!
