Happy Autumn!!  Enjoying homemade soup, pumpkin spice lattes and the sound of stepping on crunchy leaves…just a few of our favorite things during our favorite time of year!  I had to throw in the picture of the cows because it reminds me of home, and of course, Jersey cows are just so darn cute!!

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.  Rescue a pet, save a life…

Happy Friday Lovelies!!  We’ve had an interesting week.  We welcomed a new family member to our home this week.  We have been talking about adopting for a while now, but weren’t expecting to find our new love this soon.  My Sisters found him while out on a run in the hills and it was love at first sight! His name is Mr. Bojangles and he has definitely danced for us with all twenty claws at full attention.  He’s a kitten, so it has been a whirl wind of playful attacks and teaching moments.  We’re in the process of teaching him how to use his ‘soft paws’ and it doesn’t come without many laughs and cries of pain! All worth it though, especially when he shows his affection by rubbing his face close to mine and purrs with pleasure…melts my heart!  It has brought us so much joy to rescue a life and bring a new kind of happiness into our home! Just a reminder… Pet Harbor and Pet Finder are great sites to find shelter pets. Save a life…it’s so worth it!

Love, K&A

I mean!!!!! Don’t these images just tear at your heart-strings?  A couple of weeks ago there was an email circulating of 21 Pictures That Will Restore Your Faith in Humanity.  It did!!  There are endless stories of non-animal related true acts of heroism, but since it’s Furry Friday we wanted to share with you some animal stories that have restored our faith in humanity.  The internet is full of these touching tales and we are thankful for the heroes out there that are courageous enough to help.  Of course, we are not always presented with opportunities like this, so how we can help is through pet adoption.  Pet Harbor is a great website if you’re looking to share the love.  If you have the means, please adopt from a shelter and if not please help spread the word!  On another note, it’s the freakin’ weekend friends!!! Let’s get crazy!!

Cheers,  K&A

Happy Furry Friday Lovelies!! If you are in the L.A. area this weekend and are looking for a best friend there is a great animal organization holding a Super Pet Adoption at the La Brea Tar Pits.  There will be hundreds of dogs and cats from LA Animal Services, LA County Animal Shelters, and local rescue groups waiting for you to give them the companionship of a lifetime.  It’s going to be a fun event with celebrity guests, food trucks, stage demonstrations, music, pet-related products, and more!  So, even if you’re not ready to adopt it’s a great opportunity to help volunteer and get involved in animal awareness.  Also how can you resist a day of animal lovin’!!!  Click on the link below for more info.  If you’re not in the area but still interested in pet adoption remember Pet Harbor is a great website to find the perfect pet!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

          Love,  K&A

In the celebration of Easter and spring, we thought we would dedicate a post to some of the cutest creatures we know!!  Bunnies!!  They are a good representation of spring because they symbolize a fresh start and rebirth.  They are an example of fertility and life because they often produce many offspring.  They are known to be a great companion!!!!  They are also a bigger responsiblity than most know! So if you are looking into buying a bunny for Easter here are some great tips to know!! Buns actually live up to 10-13 years if neutered.  It is SO important to get them neutered because they can produce so many offspring.  They actually can become pregnant an hour after giving birth!!  Wow; that’s a fertile animal! They should live indoors as part of the family; like the dogs and cats:))) The biggest misconception is that they are good with children.   They actually tend to be scared of children because they don’t like to be held and restrained.  They are great pets and do form a strong bond with their owners, but they are an animal that require detailed care and more responsibilty than throwing them outside in a cage.  So if you are looking at getting a bunny for Easter or any other time, it’s always a great idea to adopt before buying. There are so many bunnies put to sleep each day that most rescues don’t even keep count…so sad! :( However, there are some great positives to rescuing, verses buying a bun.  They are usually already neutered and litter potty-trained.  The rescuers usually know the bunnies temperments really well because they are so hands on and can give you any info on your new bun’s personality.  This is a great website to get any information you need!   Pet Harbor is another fantastic site for all those bunnies looking to get adopted!! Check them out!!  Have a wonderful relaxing Easter weekend!!  K&A

This post is closest to our hearts!  These are just a few of the animals featured on Pet Harbor, a website that reaches all across the United States allowing you to adopt and save an animal’s life.  These special faces are animals that are found here in L.A. in our local East Valley Animal Shelter.  Please help and support the local shelters in your area and pick adopting over buying a dog from a breeder or a pet store. There are so many animals that are euthanized everyday. We can all make a difference and give these precious souls a chance to have a wonderful life.  If you are interested in any of these furry friends click on their picture and it will take you to the website for adopting information and also to more pets that need loving homes.  Please let us know if you adopt one of these animals or if you adopt one through Pet Harbor; we would love to hear about it and feature you and your new friend here on Gypsy Luster.  Happy Friday!    K&A
